Easily Installed in a matter of hours
Introduction
The installation of lateral restraints into buildings in order to comply with BS 5628 Parts 1 and 3 and current Building Regulations can be expensive, time consuming, disruptive and damaging when approached using conventional fixings. The once bent thirty by five millimetres galvanised mild steel strap is not difficult to install correctly in new construction but by its nature is not ideally suited to situations where existing buildings are in need of strengthening or restraint. Installation of the traditional bent strap into an existing building can involve removal of built-in fixtures, skirtings, plaster and wallpaper as well as floorboards. The method of fixture of a strap to the wall may also be difficult to achieve if the inner leaf is dubious quality or consists of "infill" between joist ends.
Development
In an industry where refurbishment and structural repair are fields of growing importance the introduction of "something better" than the once bent strap has been long overdue. An easily installed fixing to provide lateral restraint without the disadvantages of the bent strap is now available in the form of stainless steel "through bolt" with "secret" connections to both the floor and the outside wall.
Applications
Before using the "Clanbolt" Clan Products recommend that the reason for failure be diagnosed by a suitably qualified authority. Where major structural distortions have occurred the Clanbolt can complement a programme or remedial works.
Installation
At the time of installation a survey of the fabric and services is carried out and the connection to the external masonry is determined. The unique centre shaft design allows speedy on site fabrication to overcome all variations in joist centres, widths and wall thickness with total accuracy. The fixing is capable of infinite adjustment to suit any existing conditions and is rapidly installed by competent building operatives. On multiple installations special half day demonstrations have been set up throughout the UK where site agents, foremen and operatives have been given hands on experience in the correct installation of the fixing. The only special tools required are an extended pilot drill and fixing key which are available ex-stock from our factory.
Distribution
The bolt is supplied in one standard length and is available off the shelf. Where required our network of approved installers is available to quote on a supply and fix basis.
Performance
The steadily increasing sales of the Clanbolt since it's introduction in 1984 and the satisfaction of our ever growing client list demonstrates it's reliability and superior performance.
