Clan was involved in the upgrade of 71 non-traditional Boot properties in Liverpool. The properties were severely defective, poorly insulated and in an extremely bad state of disrepair.

LMH wanted a cost effective solution for the external refurbishment of the houses that would:
• Provide structural support and extend the life of these defective properties
• Create a watertight and thermally efficient building envelope
• Improve the external appearance of the houses of which 66 were voids.

Following a detailed programme of survey and investigation, Clan applied Structherm’s Structural External Wall Insulation system incorporating 100mm thick Enhanced EPS insulation. A high performing contemporary acrylic render in white was applied to most elevations and a Macerend Brick Effect render was applied for creative detailing to some elevations and around some front door entrances.

Clan Contracting’s experienced team spent some 26 weeks on site carefully repairing the homes. Each of the h71 houses benefitted from a new structural support guaranteed for 30 years while thermal performance has improved greatly with the U values dropping from 1.55W/m2K to 0.29W/m2K

The individual designs have significantly improved the aesthetic appearance of the properties and given them a fresh contemporary look.
